The villas are surrounded by sheep pastures, vineyards and olive groves. Wether you are planning a short visit or a longer stay there are so many things to do and see in this beautiful area that like many of our guests you will almost certainly want to return.

Crete's south coast is blessed with some of the finest beaches in the Mediterranean, many of these are just a short drive from Anna Boutique Villas. Most visitors initially head for the pretty little beach resort of Plakias where there is a beautiful long curving sandy bay and plenty of beachside tavernas and bars, with it's gently shelving sandy beach Plakias bay is safe for children. Before Plakias is the small cove of Skinaria, popular with snorkellers and scuba divers, although Skinaria may become crowded at peak times it's beautiful location and the dramatic access road makes it a firm favourite with our guests. Nearer to Plakias are the beaches of Amoudi and Damnoni, 3km beyond Plakias continuing along the beach road is the fine beach of Souda. The palm beach at Preveli is a unique spot where the palm-fringed waters of the Megalopotamos meet the clear blue Libyan sea. A wonderful 40 minute drive through the gorges of Kourtaliotis and Kotsifos and then on to a coastal road with dramatic scenery leads to Frangokastello where the sandy beaches are perfect for children. Heading eastward from Agia Pelagia the beaches of Ligres,Triopetra and Agios Pavlos are more secluded, Ligres in particular is a delightful unspoilt beach with a great taverna and terrific sunsets.

Although Samaria is the most famous of Crete's hundreds of gorges, there are other more secluded gorges within easy reach of Anna Boutique Villas. For those wishing to walk Samaria there are organised trips from Plakias, these involve an early morning start and coach ride to the top of the gorge in the heart of Crete's White Mountains, at the foot of the gorge at Agia Roumeli a boat returns the weary walker to Hora Sfakion from where coaches return to Plakias. Nearer to the village on the dramatic south coast road to Hora Sfakion are the gorges of Kallikratis and Asfendos, here you can walk all day without seeing another visitor. A little further along the coast road is Imbros gorge, now closely rivalling Samaria in popularity, at Imbros you can park at the top of the gorge and get a local taxi ride back to your car when you reach the bottom. Ask during your stay for more information on walking these and other gorges in the area.
